Karen is organizing a Left Right Centre dice game for Friday night of retreat. Remember to bring 6-10 strips of WOF solid colour fabric cut at 2 1/2" wide. Thanks Karen for organizing this event!
Just imagine the rainbow of colours of fabric we will have on the tables! For those participating in the Lanyard Swap- remember to ship your lanyards this Friday to ensure that your partner receives them by the retreat weekend. And if you post on social media tag your photo with #makealanyardmakeafriend
Thank you Bytowne Threads for donating Aurifil spools of thread for our gift bags! Aurifil is my favourite thread to piece with and for binding- and the selection of colours is amazing. Bytowne Threads also offers needles and will soon be carrying wool kits in addition to the cotton and wool Aurifil threads.
Thanks again Bytowne Threads for your generosity. Imagine making a tiny embroidery hoop for a brooch? So adorable! Dandelyne has donated one tiny embroidery hoop kit for each gift bag! Here is a video so you can see how to assemble the Dandelyne mini hoop kit:
How to make the hoop And the best part about these mini kits is you can complete your project pretty quickly! In fact I think I will set aside my current hand work projects and make this mini hoop just to be able to complete something! (Finally) Thanks again Dandelyne for sending mini hoop kits for all our gift bags! The Make Den has generously donated mini Soak Wash bottles for our retreat gift bags! As well as a few Soak Boxes for prizes! If you haven't tried Soak Wash, now is the time! Soak Wash comes in a variety of scents and gently washes your delicates and quilts. Thanks again The Make Den!
Don't know what to bring to retreat?
Here is a very comprehensive list so you know where to start. Print the list and get packing, retreat weekend is one month away! Thank you Shirley from The Marsh Store! These handy notions were donated for door prizes, and include a thread cutter, magnetic pin grabber, stiletto, marking pencil and pressing guides. If you are like me, new gadgets are always fun to have! The Marsh Store is a quaint quilt shop in a historic building and has pretty much everything you are looking for for quilting, tote bag supplies, hand embroidery threads and more!
Thanks again Shirley! Have you ever not realized you need something until you actually try it? I know we all have tangled threads when doing hand work or binding. Myself, I use the longest thread possible when binding, only to have it tied in knots in seconds. Well no more frustration with tangled threads! We are all going to get an adorable little pot of Thread Gloss from Fabric, Ink. I am pretty sure this will be a life changer for me! And here is another exciting thing about Jen from Fabric, Ink. Her Starburst mini quilt is featured on the cover of Make Modern Magazine. Look at how gorgeous this photo is! And remember a few posts back- we are all getting discount codes for Make Modern Magazine as well as one lucky door prize winner will get a 6 month subscription! How cool is this cross promotion that was totally by chance. Thanks again Jen for our gift bag donations! I can't wait to try your Thread Gloss next quilt I bind.
Who doesn't need more sewing organization? I think we as quilters could all need some extra help. These prizes from HA Kidd would be amazing at helping with organization! One prize is a notions box that has a removable tray to hold more notions below! And the other prize is a soft sided tote with many zip pouches to keep everything in place. In addition to these fabulous door prizes, HA Kidd has also donated sewing machine needles and needle info cards for all our gift bags! Thanks again HA Kidd for supporting our retreat!
